On 05/27/07 at approximately 1739 hours, deputies responded to the Union Point Marina on the call of medical assistance with a female down.
After arriving at the dock area of the Union Point Marina, deputies were coming back up to the road, where the fully marked Sheriff’s patrol unit was parked with a Sheriff’s Canine was inside the back of the vehicle. There was a Hispanic male, later identified as (A) Elias MARTINEZ, reaching inside the Sheriff’s vehicle attempting to pet the Canine. Deputies asked the (A) MARTINEZ to back away from the patrol unit. At this time, deputies pointed out the 4 1/2 inch lettering on the side of the vehicle that says, "Canine, stay Away."
While talking to the (A) MARTINEZ, deputies noticed he had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath and he was unable to care for his safety or the safety of others.
The (A) MARTINEZ was transported to the San Joaquin County Jail, where he was booked for the charges of 647 (f) PC, Public Intoxication.
